Your visibility and safety within a work zone goes beyond wearing proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). How and where you position yourself is critical. Standing in the proper location while actively flagging or monitoring a work zone creates a safe environment for your team, clients, and the traveling public. In this article we review some common positioning mistakes seen in the field. Always remember to follow the Flagger Force Best Practices, as taught during Flagger Force Academy® trainings. You should stand in front of the first cone of your taper per the standards in your region. Do not stand under trees or other locations where you are not clearly visible.
