Some examples of phishing attacks are emails that require you to enter your personal information online or a phone call claiming you owe money to the IRS. • Techniques for protecting yourself against phishing: • Do not trust emails asking for confidential information— legitimate organizations will never require sensitive information via email. • Do not get pressured into providing sensitive information—your account will not be disabled nor your service delayed if you do not provide the information via email. • Read website privacy policies to determine if they will be selling your personal information to third-party companies. General Preventative Measures • Practice safe web browsing—do not click on links or icons from unknown sources. • Limit the information you post on the Internet—hackers can figure out your passwords based on what you post on your social media platforms. • Password protect—protect your personal or company cell phone or laptop by having a password on them. ********** PASSWORD
