No experience is required to start as a Crew Member. We offer industry-leading training to help you achieve success. If you do have previous traffic control experience, you may be hired as an Experienced Crew Member. If you qualify, this program provides:

• Pay starting at the Crew Leader rate of $17.00
• An accelerated training timeline for rapid promotion to the Crew Leader role (complete required training in approximately 30 days)
• Upon promotion to Crew Leader, issued a company vehicle

To join our team as a crew member, you’ll need to meet the following requirements:

• Be 18 years or older
• Have a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and a smartphone that can download work-related apps
• Be able to stand for up to 12 hours, walk 1 to 2 miles a day, and lift 25 to 35 lbs. (occasionally up to 50 lbs.)
• Be ready to work in all types of weather
• Bring a positive attitude, flexibility, and a strong focus on safety

Yes, we ask crew members to have a valid driver’s license because you are responsible for getting to each assigned work site. These locations change daily and are often not accessible by public transportation.

Once promoted to crew leader, you’ll be assigned a company vehicle for travel to and from your job assignments.

The following required items MUST be brought with you to your orientation class.

• A Valid Driver’s License. This is required to make sure you can get to assigned job sites no matter where they are!
• I-9 Original documentation or a document that shows an employee applied to replace a lost, stolen, or damaged document:
• Safety toe boots that rise above the ankle and have laces. Steel-toe sneakers, cowboy-boot style, and slip-on boots are not permitted. Flagger Force follows these safety guidelines to protect its employees from foot injuries
• In addition, you must also bring a smartphone that’s fully charged (Consider bringing a charger if needed). Your smartphone must be capable of downloading two apps from either the App Store or Google Play. Make sure you have space on your device and no holds on your app store that would prevent you from downloading the free apps you need for your first day of work!
• Lastly, please bring 2-way radios with batteries installed and ready to use (2 radios required).

New Crew Members attend safety training before their first day on the job. Additional training and development opportunities are available throughout your career.

Yes. All new hires must complete our paid training program, even if you have previous experience or hold a current flagger certification. This ensures that every team member is aligned with our safety standards, procedures, and expectations before heading out to the field.

Training includes a mix of in-person, virtual, and hands-on learning, so you’re fully prepared and confident on the job. We appreciate your experience and want to ensure you’re set up for success from day one.

Advancement opportunities at Flagger Force are based on performance, reliability, and business needs. In many cases, team members may be considered for advancement within 45–90 days, though timing can vary depending on role, location, and individual readiness.

Our standard starting pay for crew members is $16 per hour.

In some areas, we’ve introduced higher base pay rates:

• Central Pennsylvania (Cumberland, Lancaster, York, and Dauphin counties): $17.50/hour for Crew Members and $18.50/hour for Experienced Crew Members
• Select Ohio and Indiana counties: $17.50/hour for Crew Members and $18.50/hour for Experienced Crew Members

Many team members earn promotions within their first 45 to 60 days, which can lead to higher pay and access to a company vehicle.

If you have experience in the traffic control industry, you may qualify for:

• An additional $1 per hour
• A company vehicle (after 30 days of employment and completion of required training)
• A faster path to advancement

New Hire Orientation (NHO) and Crew Member Training (CMT) are designed to prepare you for success in the field. These sessions include:

• Drug screening
• Background screening
• ID validation (bring a valid government-issued photo ID)
• Classroom instruction, including a required test
• Hands-on training in simulated work zone conditions
• Company policy overview
• Introduction to our technology and communication platforms

To ensure you’re ready, please review the gear requirements in advance:

• Steel-toed or composite-toed laced boots that cover the ankle
  • It is recommended that the boots meet ANSI Z41 or ASTM F 2413-05 requirements
• Two-way radios (a reimbursement option is available)
  • It is not recommended that our team members use any radio that has .5 channels

Once hired, Flagger Force provides all the standard-issue gear and training you need to start safely and confidently. This includes:

• Personal protective equipment (PPE): gloves, Class E pants, Class 3 vest, hard hat, and safety glasses
• Training and certifications required for your state

You will need to supply your own:

• Steel-toed or composite-toed laced boots that cover the ankle
  • It is recommended that the boots meet ANSI Z41 or ASTM F 2413-05 requirements
• Two-way radios (a reimbursement option is available)
  • It is not recommended that our team members use any radio that has .5 channels

Yes. Field employees must be able to download and utilize mobile apps and training platforms to fulfill their job requirements.
